Food Technology Students Visit PT. Bali Ekstrak Utama, Learn the Application of Flavor Technology in Industry
6th semester students of the Food Technology Study Program conducted an industrial visit to PT Bali Ekstrak Utama located in Klungkung, Bali on May 10, 2025. This activity is part of the implementation of the Flavor Technology course which aims to provide practical insights to students regarding the application of flavor science in the industrial world. The visit was accompanied by three lecturers of the course, namely Dr. Gusti Ayu Kadek Diah Puspawati, S.TP., M.Si., Dr. Putu Ari Sandhi Wipradnyadewi, S.TP., MP. and Ir. I Gede Arie Mahendra Putra, S.TP., M.TP., IPM.
The activity began with a company profile presentation by PT Bali Ekstrak Utama. Students get in-depth information about the history of the company, product lines, and the important role of natural extracts in the food and beverage industry. After the presentation session, students were invited to tour around to see firsthand the extract production process, starting from the raw material selection stage, extraction, to the packaging of the final product.
According to the accompanying lecturers, this visit provided real experience that was very relevant to the lecture material. Students can see firsthand how the theories learned in class are implemented in industrial processes. “This activity is expected to not only increase students' knowledge, but also equip them with practical understanding that can be a provision in the world of work later,” said Dr. Gusti Ayu Kadek Diah Puspawati.
