Guest Lecture Food Technology Unud Provides Insights into Food Safety Regulations and Functional Food Development

The Undergraduate and Master’s Programs in Food Technology, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Universitas Udayana, held a Guest Lecture entitled “Food Safety Regulatory Systems and the Downstream Development of Local Natural Resources into Functional Food Ingredients.” The event was held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Theater Room, 3rd Floor, Lecture Building, Universitas Udayana.

The event featured two speakers from the fields of food safety supervision and the food industry, namely Ketut Yuna Keni Faradita, S.TP., M.H.Kes., from the Bali Buleleng Food and Drug Supervisory Center, and Ni Nyoman Desi Trisnadewi, S.TP., M.TP., from PT. Bali Extract Utama, Bali.

Through this Guest Lecture, students gained insights into food safety regulatory systems and supervision, including the importance of complying with food safety and quality requirements in product development. The session also provided an overview of the downstream development of local natural resources into value-added functional food ingredients.

The participation of speakers representing both a government food safety authority and the food industry provided students with diverse perspectives on the application of Food Technology knowledge in the professional world. The learning experience extended beyond academic concepts by introducing students to various challenges and opportunities in developing food products based on local resources.

The activity is expected to broaden students’ understanding of the interconnected aspects of regulation, food safety, innovation, and the downstream development of local resources, while encouraging them to develop competencies relevant to the needs of the food industry and the advancement of food technology.
